While installing LoadRunner the following error message is displayed:

"Error attempting to open the source file F c:\\LoadRunnerInstaller\\lrunner\\MSI\\bin\\bvclient\\bvagent50.jar System error code: 3"

Some of the possible reasons for the error message are:

1. File is corrupted or missing for example due to an error during unpacking the LoadRunner software ISO file.

Please refer to the following document:

Error attempting to open the source file c:\LoadRunnerInstaller\lrunner\MSI\bin\bvclient\bvagent50.jar System error code: 3" when installing LoadRunner

http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM887212

2. There is an antivirus software which is interfering the installation process discussed in:

Error:"Error attempting to open the source file..." when installing Performance Center Server

http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM1274850

3. Computer user account used during installation does not have enough privileges.

To overcome the issue during installation:

  1. Use administrative account with full privileges on your machine including read/write access to the registries and the file system.
  2. Disable User Account Control, Data Execution prevention and antivirus software.

3. Make sure that the installation file is not corrupted.
