I don't fully understand question, but try to answer it as I undestand it.
In both cases: record and replay, RTE protocol use Ericom PowerTerm terminal to simulate load on terminal server. In case of record, terminal started with enabled UI. In case of replay, terminal may start with UI (from Vugen) or without UI (from Controller). Case when RTE script replayed from Vugen considered as debugging of script, so terminal shown to make terminal output visible to user.
Depend on emulated terminal type (VT-420, 5250, etc.) terminal may close or may not close after end of session. When you finish recording of script you may close terminal like any other application (File->Close or press X botton on the upper right corner).
