Difference in Performance Testing - Client-Server and Web Application

Hello All,

Greetings!!

I am working on performance testing of a Client-Server application, which can also be accessed through web.

For Example – Microsoft Outlook can be used both as a Client-Server application as well as Web application.

I have some queries regarding the difference between performance testing of Web applications and Client-Server applications.

  • Will there be any difference (Performance wise) between Web-Based and Client-Server applications, as both access the same server?

  • Suppose if we use LoadRunner to record both the applications separately, will there be any differences in the results?

  • Which type of application is normally recommended for performance testing? (Client Server or Web-Based)

Note: In Real time, Client-Server application will only be used by end users.

Regards,

Avinash
