you should be able to establish a pattern and the only option for dynamic content is to correlate them 'ALL'. your developers are correct. it is just not jsf, many technologies generate dynamic control id's which cannot be controlled. while some never change build to build, some change often. in your case the best option is 2(time consuming but well worth it).
